I could use some help

When should I look for help?

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you had a broken leg you would get it looked after. Getting help for difficulties you might be having with your thoughts, feelings and/or behavior is just as important.

I don't know what to say...

It can be difficult to ask for help, but doing so is very brave. The first step is to let someone know how you are feeling. You could talk to a parent, friend, or another person you trust such as a health care provider or teacher.

  • Some advice from other youth with anxiety:
  • Advocate for yourself
  • Write down what you want to tell your health care provider. It can help you when you are in your appointment
  • If you are nervous to speak to someone alone, ask someone you trust to come with you
  • Ask questions if you don’t understand what the doctor is saying
  • If you are 16 and over you can make a self-referral to mental health services without telling anyone else.
